About The Department

The department is supported by 4 faculty members and one technical assistant. The department has got a well-furnished laboratory with necessary facilities like Microscopes, Colorimeter, Laminar air flow chamber, Autoclave, pH meter, Water bath etc. The course provides a strong foundation with Basic Botany and is well integrated with the current trends and advanced technologies which equip students with job-oriented skills required by the industry. Students acquire sound knowledge on Plant diversity, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Anatomy, Embryology, Morphology, Taxonomy, Paleobotany, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology etc. The course is supported by elective papers like Bioinstrumentation & Biostatistics, Horticulture & Mushroom cultivation and Herbal science. Students are encouraged to undergo practical courses to nourish their scientific knowledge.

Objectives:

To create students’ interest in their environment through identification of the flora and fauna of their surrounding in a funny way.
Providing interaction with professionals in various fields of biology through seminars and Guest lectures to enrich the students’ knowledge.
To give opportunity to the students to improve their biotechnological skills through workshops.
To bring out the explorative, creative and inventive talents of young minds by conducting competitions & Quiz programs.
